Recently I finished a great course on achieving gender equity in education. My team project involved identifying young adult fiction with characters in non-traditional roles. The bibliography we created was limited to books in our school library, but it may be a useful starting point for your middle school collection development if you feel you have a weak spot in the collection. If you would like a free copy of our packet (bibliography with pre/during/post reading guides), please send a ssae to my school address. The packet is several pages (too long to post here), so you'll need at least two stamps. If you have any suggestions we may add/consider, please let me know!
