crystallography

I have two students here who are looking for answers to the following
questions about crystals.  We can't seem to find the information anywhere
else.

 1.  Who came up with the names given to crystal shapes?
 2.  Was s/he a scientist?  Did s/he invent anything else?
 3.  Did s/he like being a scientist?
