   The cooling provided by fans on overheads and slide projectors not
only cool the lamps or bulb but they also keep the bulbs from melting
portions of the machines.  Newer devices use bulbs that require
diffeent cooling than older machines.  It does not hurt to let a fan
run after the machine is turned off.  In addition a bulb is more
likely to blow out if it is moved while it is hot.  The best thing is
to read the manual for every device you have.  A new kodak is
diffeent from a 25 year old Fairchild.  Remember the worse thing is
that if a fan does not come on at all, the bulb may work but after
minutes you may see melt down.
