True story from when I was an elementary librarian: A kindergarten boy who could read quite well came in to the library with a friend to check out books. On the paperback rack we had a worn, used copy of "Jaws" which I purchased to quiet the loud protests I received without it (!). He took the book to the desk to sign out, reading aloud to his friend from the back cover of the book. I do not remember what the first part of the sentence was; all I remember now is "....and they made love on the beach." The reader stopped, paused, made a kind of "raspberry" sound like "blechchch" and said, "Kissing. Ugh!" As some of you said, they understand only what they are ready for! <*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*> Joan Rosen | 500 Rices Mill Road Librarian | Wyncote, PA 19095, USA Cheltenham High School | (215) 881-6380 jrosen@mciunix.mciu.k12.pa.us | Fax: (215) 881-6406 <*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*>
