Applications are now availbale for the 1996 AASL National School Library Media Program of the Year Award. The award, $3,000 ($9,000 total) in three categories is donated by Follett Library Resources, and recognizes large and small school districts and a single school for exemplary school library media programs that are fully integrated into the school's curriculum. Applications are judged based on how well the mission of the library media program is integrated into the mission, goals, objectives and long range plans of the school and community in which it is located; how well the library media program carries out its stated mission; and the degree to which the program implements the concepts of planning and partnership as described in INFORMATION POWER: Guidelines for School Library Media Programs.
