TECH: Shut off my MAC?

Does it do any harm to leave my computer and modem on all the time?  I use
AOL and have it set to do Flashsessions in the middle of the night, so how
can I turn it off?...unless I just set the flashsession for daytime, but them
I'll have to remember to turn on the computer every morning before I leave
for work and I'm never awake in the morning.
