That's what I thought, too.  But, at the Virginia Educational
Media Association Conference last month, we discussed this
possibility.  One of those attending said she'd heard that
Lowry intenionally left the story open-ended, just to stimulate
the reader's imagination--that she has no plans for a sequel.

Frankly, I'm disappointed.  I wanted a sequel!
