GEN: WWW and SLIPNOT

I would like to try to get on the World wIDE wEB.  I have neen told I
can't use Netscape with my Univ. of MD address and that I must use
Slipknot.  Does anyone know anything about this?  How do I get to
Slipknot, what do I do?  TIA  Debbie
