Sorry it has taken me so long to post this hit  but my district's server
was down for a week, and then I was out of town due to an illness in my
family. Thanks to all of you who sent me the information and  a special
thanks to those of you who mailed lists to me.  For those of you who
think all the lists appear in the front of Follett's catalogue, I believe
you will like this hit as they are not in Follett.  Here it is:

Every year the school children of Kentucky choose their favorite books.  For
1995 they have chosen in the K-3 division, The Cow Who Wouldn't Come Down by

Hi!  In Minnesota, we have the Maud Hart Lovelace Award, named after that
author who grew up in this town (Mankato).  Kids in grades 3-8 vote on
their favorite of the fifteen nominees each March, and the winner is
announced on MHL's birthday, April 25.  I have a colleague here in town who
just did her Master's paper on this topic, if you are interested in
contacting her for more info.  Her name is Kathy Wortel, and her address

In Arkansas we have a Charlie May Simon children's book award for  each
year.  Students in grades 4-6 read and vote on the books they
enjoyed most from this list, then an award banquet is given with the
top author invited to speak.  Goes over well.
