Periodical for girls

I have a teacher who is looking for a good magazine for her 11 year old
daughter.  She already gets "New Moom", but doesn't find it particularly
challenging.  Does any one have any suggestions?  She also gets American
girl.  Looking for something with positive portrayal of young women and
girls and good fiction.  No unnecessary sec--like how to stuff.  any
suggestions?  Has anyone seen Girl's life? TIA, Michele
