Dear LM_Netters:

I would appreciate your help in getting the word out to librarians who
are still job hunting that Guam's Dept. of Education has several
openings for qualified school librarians. (Master's in Library Science
desirable but not required) Our National Teacher Recruiter will be
going to the states to interview for teachers, librarians, and other
specialists in about ten days. He hopes that I can give him a list of
librarians who might be interested. Although his plans are now to
interview in Los Angeles, Seattle, Minnesota, and possibly North
Carolina, he is willing to consider changing his schedule if enough
people from a geographic area express an interest. Your way would be
paid here, a weight allowance to ship some household goods is given, and
beginning salaries are comparable to if not better than stateside ones.
Credit is given on the salary scale for up to 6 years teaching experience.

If you have questions about the recruitment process, you may phone
Patrick Artero, our national teacher recruiter, at 011-671-477-6283 or
fax him at 011-671-477-6284. I would also recommend that you E-mail me
giving me your name, address, phone number, Fax #, etc. as a backup.
Please feel free to E-mail me any questions you might have about life on
Guam and our school libraries. Although Patrick works through our DOD
office, we do not have DOD schools. We do receive some funding through
them. Guam has terrific weather, good scuba diving, great travel
opportunities, and an interesting culture. I think it would be an
interesting opportunity for people who want new experiences and to enjoy
a different culture.

If any of you would consider posting the basic information in this
message on your University or library association hotlines, I would
appreciate it. (If you have an E-mail address where such a message
could be posted, I would appreciate your sending it to me.)
Thanks for your help.
