Dear LM_NET followers. Follow is (I HOPE) a few replies that I received on my inquirey about behavior management plans. If you have any others I would try to post a second hit. Debbie Stafford Gen H.H. Arnodl High School stafford@email.wiesbaden.army.mil Our district started using the Best program about three years ago. I thought it was an elementary school only type of deal, but am hearing Best stuff mentioned at the middle school level (grades 7 & 8). I am looking at my library rules and trying to get them to the middle school level and keep the Best model going. That means no more than 5 simple rules. Consequences on 5 levels (first is warning, second is ...., etc). We do have an in-school suspension3 r V i P b g 0 y D O i S _ fg 0 y D O i S Arial program about three I would very much like to see ideas you receive to this inquiry. My basic rule is that if it bothers or interferes with another students right to study then it needs to be done elsewhere. I believe that the more "specific" we are inour expectation and consequences the better chances for success BUT I also want some leway and flexibility for myself as well as students. Bette Bette Dennerline, Library Media Specialist Hillsboro High School - Hillsboro, OR bdenner@hilhi.hillsborouh.k12.or.us bookworm@teleport.com This sounds like a great discussion topic. I hope you who have answers will share with the group. I'm also trying to come up with a similar document. Prior to this year, I've always just said, "You know what general library rules are, so please abide by them. If you are considerate of others, you won't have a problem." However, having accepted behaviors spelled out would probably be *much* wiser.
