I am seriously considering shelving with books vidoes that have hithertofore been stored in a closet only for teacher checkout. Our students do not receive ALL their information from print anymore. The videos are mostly animal programs, some sing-along shows, a few Fairy Tale Theater videos, etc. So...what about copyright restrictions, check-out time periods, the requirement that a student must have print material checked out too (in order to have something to read when a VCR isn't available--in class, on the bus). Our students are grades 2-4. No other school in our district checks out video or audio tapes to students. Our public library, university library, and church library circulate video and audio tapes as a matter of course. Those of you who have responded to my request for advice on a new facility have my grateful appreciation, and I look forward to your help with this policy decision.
