I was one of the 6000 teachers in the 'reduction in force' back in the 90-91 school year in Indiana. I moved to Houston, Texas the following spring because I could stay in education. In the three years following I have completed my masters in Learning Resources, and have just started work on my doctorate in Instructional Technology. HOWEVER, I left my heart back in the cornfields of Indiana. I lived there for all of the first XX years of my life. ALL of my family is still there. I would truly like to return if I could stay in education, and not worry about being 'rif'ed' again after a year or two. Dear IN., how is the 'climate' up there? Are there jobs available? Has the situation gotten better with budgeting and lay-offs? Has anyone come up with a better way to find Indiana jobs than applying to each and every school individually? If anyone has any suggestions on how to go about finding openings in our field in Indiana, particularly within 30 miles or so of Bloomington, I would appreciate all the help anyone could offer.
