Dear Netters, I just finished my orientation using your suggestions and it was great...thank you! I also added something else to the orientation.....I talked about F.A.Q.'s...like "Where are the R.L.Stein books?" and "Do you have any skinny books?" The students seemed surprised that these questions were asked so frequently! Ha I know that there is someone "out there" who has found a successful technique for helping a classroom of students who all need to get on the computers and look-up their topics. In the past, the teachers have sent them down in small groups; but, this year we will not have time as all the sixth graders are doing a Social Sciences report, 7th and 8th grade Science Fair, 7th grade D.A.R. research for an essay contest, the art teacher is doing reports on famous artists and the 8th grade social studies teacher is doing a report on places to visit in Georgia.......all before Thanksgiving!! Another problem created when most students are using the same books from class to class is that we constantly hear...."I can'tfind that book that I used yesterday."....so I put all the books they are using (science fair, social sciences) in order on a cart...Anyone have a better solution???? Does this kind of research schedule sound familiar????? If so, would you please share your tips with me...I will post a hit if I get many responses. TIA, Pat :-) ************************************************************************** Pat W.
