LM_NET: Library Media Networking
I just updated my network version of Unison (they sent it to me a few
weeks ago and I was afraid to update--it wasn't broken, why mess with
it?). Anyway the reinstallation went very well, but they neglected to
tell me anywhere in the documentation that doing this deletes all the
keywords that are used in Catalog Plus when the students want to do a
keyword search. Rebuilding is an automated task, so it isn't complicated,
but it did take lots of time. I'm glad I didn't have a class coming into
the library to do research yesterday, I started the rebuildingprocess at
8:20 am and it was still rebuilding when I left at 4:00pm. Fortunately,
it was still possible to check things out and use the card catalog while
this was going on.
Incidentally, my barcode reader works much better with this new
update. It has scanned every book all day today!
