I have received several responses to my inquiry about a program to secure
windows from curious "helpers". Below are the recommended programs. I have
not yet obtained or used any of them.

Direct Access is used by B. Nelson who acquired it after strong recommenda-
tions by librarians. Try contacting Fifth Generations Systems, Inc., 10049
North Reiger Rd., Baton Rouge, LA 70809-4562. 504 291-7283; FAX 504-
295-3268; BB 504 295-3344.

P. Stohrer uses Winlock which was obtained from CompuServe. "It removes the
File menu and hides groups that you don't want to have student access. It is
paswoord driven. It works with i.1. I' I'm not sure ... Windows '95.

Two other librarians recommended Secure Groups - a freeware program which
can be found on the Internet. Comments about the product are sent to
s_furrer@ira.uka.de . I have emailed this address but received not response.

I also received a fax from a company, Fortres Grand Corp., P. O. Box 888,
Plymouth, IN 46563. 800-331-0372. They offer this type of product for
$295.00 which includes a no limiite license.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my inquiry.
