Thank you very much to the thirty of you who responded to our request for titles for a course in science fiction literature for high school juniors and seniors. The "winner" by far was Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, touted even by those who don't like science fiction. Asimov, Clarke, Verne, and Wells were recommended, of course. Other titles mentioned more than once are as follows: Bradbury--Fahrenheit 451 Adams--Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy LeGuin--Left Hand of Darkness Simak--City Dickinson--Eva Lowry--The Giver There were more, ranging from Anne McCaffrey to William Sleator to Kurt Vonnegut. Thank you also to those who mentioned the latest issues of VOYA and English Journal and the Young Adult Reading Activities Library as good sources for titles. We've learned today that 100 students (of a student body of 550) have signed up to take the course next year. I'll let you know how it goes. Roseyn J.
