YALSA Announces Availability of Applications for the Excellence in Library Service to Young Adults Competition The Young Adult Library Services Association will select up to fifty exemplary programs/services in all types of libraries to include in a second edition of EXCELLENCE IN LIBRARY SERVICE TO YOUNG ADULTS. The top five programs will receive stipends of $500 each. Forty-five will receive stipends of $100. This program to recognize excellence in library service to teenagers was begun by ALA Past President Hardy Franklin in 1993 and is subsidized by the Margaret A. Edwards Trust. All applications must be received in the YALSA office no later than October 1, 1996. The libraries selected will be announced at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Washington DC, February 14-20, 1997.
