TX/Corpus--Library Standards

You are invited to attend a meeting about school library standards
in Corpus Christi.  The meeting will be conducted by the Texas State
Library and Archives Commission for the purpose
of soliciting input for the new library standards being developed.

When:   Tuesday, May 14, 1996
Time:   3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Where:  Barnes Elementary School
        2829 Oso Creek Parkway
        Corpus Christi, TX
Host:   Corpus Christi ISD

Please share this with all interested persons.
Parents, administrators, and librarians are encouraged to bring
their views. Meetings like this are being held all over the state.
It is important for schools in the area to have input before
the standards are written.  Come prepared to share with Jeanette
Larson, Texas State Library, Library Development Division, your
views of what the new standards should contain.

The legislature transferred library standards from the Texas
Education Agency to the Texas State Library and Archives
Commission, in consultation with the State Board of Education.
After receiving input from the public, the new standards will
be written.  Public input will be solicited again before the
final version is submitted to the State Board of Education.
