Gen: Anne Rice fans

At the end of July, Anne Rice - literary mistress of the dark, sensual and
ineffable - started a cross-country bus tour to promote her new novel,
_Servant of the Bones_.  As part of the promotion, she will appear weekly in a dis
a discussion area of SALON (an electronic only magazine).  You can e-mail her
and follow discussion of her work.

Readers can also enter a writing contest that will challenge you to retell
"Cinderella" in the style of Anne Rice.  I didn't get many details, but the
winner gets a round-trip for two to New Orleans and an overnight stay at
one of the Rice properties.  It sounds like fun but I'm not sure I know here
work well enough to imitate it.

SALON also gives the cities and dates of when she will be at book stores to
autograph her book.  Anyone who is interested in the author or in the writing

I thought I might use the information to promote reading and discussion
among teachers.  I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who tries to
rewrite "Cinderella."
