A couple of "oldies but goodies" which I used last year: Eleanor Estes - One Hundred Dresses Eleanor Estes - Rufus M This book, one of Moffats series, has chapters that pretty well stand alone. I read chapter one, about how five-year old Rufus gets his library card aloud to sixth graders and they loved it. Of course, the more expression you can put into it the better. Also recommend anything by Gary Paulsen. I have read aloud "Dancing Carl" Also read Cynthia DeFelice's book "Weasel" - great adventure and suspense. Hildegard N. Pleva hpleva@aol.com
