Colleagues, I am a member of LM_NET and a children's book writer with over 20 published books ("Katie and the Computer," the "Chip Mystery" mystery series, "Escape from Robotropolis," "The New Astronomy," etc.). My home page is URL=http://www.tcimet.net/mmclass/. I currently work as a staff-development leader helping teachers, media specialists, and students author using new media. I have recently run into a problem: many teachers I work with are having trouble designing "rubrics" to evaluate students' progress authoring and creating using the new media. I was wondering if anyone knew of some simple, non-technical descriptions of the term "rubrics" which would make sense to the teachers. Second, do you know of any rubrics which have been designed to measure students' progress as they author using new media such as HyperStudio, the Internet, CD-ROMs, etc. Thank you for your help!
