Our superintendent has just posted a brand new position in our district.  I
mentioned our wonderful listserv and said I would give it a try since there
appears to be a shortage of media specialists in the area.
This was just posted on Monday of this week--so there isn't much time to
reply.  School starts on Aug. 26th.

Junior High Media Specialist--Grades 7 and 8
Masters Degree in Instructional Media Education
Technology preferred
5/6 Media Specialist  1/6 Computer Technology

Brooklyn is in south central Michigan in an area known as the Irish Hills,
very scenic with rolling woods, gobs of inland lakes, Michigan
International Speedway at the backdoor, and an hour away from MSU and U-M.
It's a beautiful area, with many tourists during the summer and lots of
solitude for the other 9 months.  My husband and I came here as newlyweds
24 years ago and still think it is a treasure.

As far as the position, like I say, you would be the first media specialist
ever in the school.   I was the first professional in my elementary library
position last year and I was-and am still- getting things around and will
be for the next long while.
Internet is supposed to be brought in to all of the buildings this fall.
The library is NOT automated and the collection needs a lot of work.  It
will be a real challenge!
