Tech: French Video transfer to VHS?

One of our elementary teachers received 2 videos as gifts while he was in
France (just got back last night).  They are not the same format as ours.
Does anyone know of anyway to transfer them to VHS?  I'm sure this group
will have some helpful ideas.
