Dear friends on both LM-Net and OZTL-Net,

Thanks so much for your many responses to my request for sites about Slavery
and the Civil War. A number of people have requested a hit, so here it is.
I haven't had time to check out all the sites yet, but I am sure there will
be many good ones.

Thanks again.

Try History/Social Studies Web Site for k-12 teachers

        http://www.execpc.com/~dboals/boals/html

Time Detective - Revolutionary and Civil War eras

        http://mac.94.ralphbunche.rbs.edu/history/demo.html

Also, Teacher Topics
        http://www.asd.k12.ak.us/Andrews/TeacherTopics.html

Found this address but haven't had time to look at it. The title intrigues
me, tho:
        Peace Tree http://execpc.com/~dboals/k-12.html
Might be some general discussions about war/peace,etc. Worth
checking out.

I am recommending a few neat sites that I hope will help you with your
Civil War unit - my teachers and students really enjoyed the following:

1. http://www.ucsc.edu/civil-war-letters/home.html

2. http://lcweb.loc.gov/spcoll/spclhome.html

3. http://www.msstate.edu/Archives/History

4. http://rs6.loc.gov/ammem/cwmicro.html

I would also suggest you go to Alta Vista and search for "Civil War" and
"Slavery" and you should find a TON of information!

I'd try Kent Peterson's American Civil War page at URL:
http://www.execpc.com/~kap/civilwar.html

>From his site you may wish to try the Civil War Center at Louisiana State
University - one of the best-respected online sites as I recall

On our school's web page, I have links to some information which may be
helpful. The url for the Millard Central page is included in my
signature below. When you get there, select "Curriculum Links" and then
"Thematic Units." Then look for Civil War. I hope that this helps!

Homecoming, based on Cynthia Voigt's book. Anne Bancroft starred as the
grandmother.

Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators,
http://www.capecod.net/Wixon/wixon.htm. That's just the opening page. There
is a special page for each curriculum area, as well as new sites this month,
updates, etc. Absolutely fantastic. I just checked the history page and sure
enough, there are several listed there that would be a propos to a civil war
study.
