Target: Dog in Chris Van Allsburg Books

Dear Wonderful LM_NETTERS,

This past week I have been reading Chris Van Allsburg books with my classes
and pointing out the little dog with the patch around his eye in each
story.  We were wondering if any of you had any information as to why he
has chosen that particular little trademark?

We were going to write to him care of Houghton Mifflin in Boston, but
thought that this might bring a faster response.
