MID: Prehistory novel?

One of our middle school teachers has asked for suggestions for a book to
read aloud or read with her class. She wants it to relate to prehistoric
times in some way. Right now she is using Julie of the Wolves, because the
old Eskimo lifestyle reflects a lot of the survival skills that prehistoric
people would have used. She would like to have something that is more
directly related, a novel with an actual prehistoric setting. Any ideas?
