Hi Jennifer, I am a library/media specialist in a K-6 school. Our Kindergarten students have 1/2 day sessions. I let students check out books their second session. But they check them out to the Kindergarten classroom , they do not take them home. I depends a lot on the particular class as to when they can check them out to take home. Some years the class is very mature, eager, etc. and we let them begin to take books home in November. Other years the class is more immature, irresponsible, etc as a group and they do not begin to take books home until 1/2 way through the school year. I generally rely on the teacher to let me know when she feels that they are responsible enough to begin taking books home.
