TARGET: ADULT FICTION dealing with welding or construction

An indrustrial arts teacher, taking the grad class) came in the request
for a fiction book dealing with welding or construction HE could read.
It seems a professor assigned them to each read a FICTION book in their
area of expertese.

Can you recommed any?  The best I could think of at the spur of the
moment was a Zane Grey western about building the railroads.  Will post
a hit.
