Lm-netters, Regarding the discussion of getting class lists for library
circulation, I wonder how many of you use circ software that can import
database records. If the office system can print the lists, they should be
able to be exported to a text file that I know can be imported into
commercial databases. It seems that importing student records into circ
software should be as easy as importing MARC records, but I have asked
Brodart and Winnebago and they both charge extra for this option. As much
as $300 extra. Our Middle school has Follett and she types the new student
records in each year. Does anyone have circ software that imports student
data without typing in all that information? Seems if the school
secretaries do it already, there should be no reason to do it again, yet
most of the librarians I've heard from do type it again. I would appreciate
your collective experience in this area! Thanks, Ellen
