LM_NET: Library Media Networking

LM_NETTERS,
I am in need of your sage advice. Here is my situation:
I work half time in a K-8 school, 560 students. This is my 3rd year as such.
The library is adjacent to a computer lab which is networked throughout the
building. Previously the lab has been managed by a part time person. This
year it is a full time teacher who is paid an additional stipend to manage
the lab. Nest year our new principal wants to create one fulltime position
to cover these two areas and call it a Media Specialist. His intent(I am
assuming, as he has not spoken to me directly yet) is that I will remain in
the library half time and the computer person will cover the lab half time.
In my opinion, it is a mistake to combine these two areas under the one job
title. WE will not really be job sharing, so what we are talking about are
two half time positions. To combine them will mean that in the future
neither of these areas will have one full time person to staff it. It will
remain combined. Any thoughts on this that might help me make my case when I
meet with my principal? TIA for any help.
