I have read Chris VanAllsburg's Polar Express after a discussion about
holiday traditions that go with this time of year.  I have also used
"Herschel and the Hanukkah Goblins" told by Eric Kimmel.  Another story I
have used with 6th graders is about a piece of stained glass that is hung
on a family's Christmas tree that either Dad or Grandpa brought back from
WWI.  I can't remember the name, but it's a great one for culminating a
discussion of traditions.  Have fun!
