Tried sending an email to the original author but it was rejected by
aol.  I too think that A Christmas Memory is the best.  I have a hard
time reading without some tears falling at the sheer beauty of the
writing.  There are two other short childrens stories that are
beautifully illustrated.  The first is Too Many Tamales by Gary Soto and
the other is a new book by Rudolfo Anaya.  I cannot recall the title at
the moment.  It has to do with the use of luminaries and the story and
the illustrations are quite fine.  I also like The Christmas Book.  It
is worth looking at.  Haven't really looked at the newest trade books on
Christmas.  We have a good sized collection and something has to be
special to be added at the moment.
