REF--Luggage Tags

Dear Netters, I have a student who needs to know the "history of the use of
luggage tags in airports. She need to include this info in a science project
in which she predicts the future of "luggage ID".  We have checked the
archives at Newark Airport, etc., but found nothing. Help! Kathryn Valvano,
