I basically felt the same way that you had to go looking to find things and still believe that to be generally true. However I have to relate a couple of stories 1) I was doing a search using the word rainbow on webcrawler the top hit was a page with a plyboy like photo as its opening shot. 2) a teacher was looking up information on poodles and found some very explicit material on one of the pages. These were innocent searches. That's why I totally beleive schools need very strong Acceptable Use Poilicies and discussions with staff members about how to handle an awkward situation when it arises. I would also recommend the brochure Child Safety on the Information Highway By Lawrence J. Magid. It is available from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678. You can also find an online version at http://www/describe.ca/childfind/infohwy.hte or http://www.4j.lane.edu/InternetResources/Safety/Safety.html -- Linda C.
