(A copy of this message has also been posted to the following newsgroups: bit.listserv.edtech) I have a problem which really puzzles me. One of our teachers is accessing the Internet using a Mac LC and a Global Village 14.4 bps modem. Whenever he tries to dial up the modem will not connect but instead will keep on making the scratchy sound until he clicks to quit. I brought the computer into the media center and tried it out on my telephone line after resetting the chooser to make sure everything was OK. It worked great! I took it back into his room and either the same thing happened or it tried to access very slowly. I went back to the library and tried to access the account on my LC5200 and everything was fine. Could the phone line cause the problem? The modem dials up OK and the ConfigPPP and MacTCP are configured correctly and I reset the chooser again after returning the computer to his room. We have two accounts on his machine which worked fine in the library but neither will work in his classroom. -- Madeline L. Buchanan Library Media Specialist mlbuchan@scott.net W. J.
