Ketchikan is a Southeastern Alaska coastal community of 8500. It has
strong tourist and fishing industries and a mild climate. The town has an
extension campus of the University of Alaska and a public library. The
school district has 5 elementary schools, a middle school and a high
school. The high school enrollment is about 700 students, with a fully
automated library.

The Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District currently has an opening
for a library media specialist at Ketchikan High School for the 1996-97
school year. Qualifications are a Bachelor's degree with a statement of
institutional recommendation for teaching field, and an Alaska Type A
teacher certificate with desired endorsement (or qualified to receive). A
Master's degree in library science is desired. Interested parties may

approximately $35,125 to $58,030 annually depending on degree and
experience plus benefits. Closing date for application is July 26, 1996.
