I posted to the listserv about it and got a few responses but they did not get to the problem. I believe the answer is in the way Netscape is configured under "Options", "Preferences". I was told that all the .zip and .exe applications should be ASK USER, so that, prior to actually downloading, user can designate the directory name, filename, and maybe even the mode of transfer (ASCII or binary). My guess is that Netscape, Eudora Pro, and other useful programs off the Net are binary files, and Netscape's default is ASCII. Or, maybe it's something else? If there are some experienced Netscape "configurers" out there, with lots of experience downloading off the Net, can you help? Your response needs to be really basic and sequential, i.e., 1, 2, 3. Forever grateful 'cause you'll save many LOTS of time! Jen Schiller Media Specialist, Ft. Lauderdale High
