GEN: Tip for foreign travel info

For those planning on traveling abroad this summer:  contacting the
Government Tourist Offices, (usually located in NYC), will provide you
with a wealth of info: discounts, maps, schedules, special tours,
bed & breakfast accommodations, etc.  Be specific as to what info you
want; otherwise you may be missing out on some great stuff! Tourist
Office tel. nos. are available in travel guides, _Background Notes of
Countries of the World_ (for current info about a country from the U.S.
State Dept.), _The National Directory of Addresses and Telephone Numbers_
(can't exist without this resource!), etc. Another tip:
try experiencing the culture by selecting smaller accommodations (bed &
breakfast, pension); it is like being a guest in someone's home.  Best
