All my teachers have large classroom libraries and most of the books are from the school library. Either the teacher comes in and selects the books or they bring the kids in and let them have a say in what they want included in the classroom collection. Teachers can have as many books checked out as the want and can keep them as long as they want, providing they share it with any other teacher who wants it. IMHO finding a book that 140 kids would all enjoy would be very difficult, esp. considering varying reading tastes and abilities. Why not get magazine or newspaper subscriptions if they want everyone reading the same thing? Guusje Moore Librarian, Housman Elementary School Houston, Texas guusje@tenet.edu
