DR. SEUSS IS LOOSE WEEK AT McHENRY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
MARCH 4-8, 1996

McHenry will celebrate the career and life of Theodor Seuss Geisel (a.
k.a. Dr. Seuss) during the week of March 4-8.  Dr. Seuss was born on
March 2, 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts and died September 24,
1991.  Activities include:  breakfast/lunch menus theme-based with
Seuss book titles, Guest Readers to read Dr. Seuss books to various
grade levels, special surprise D.E.A.R. (drop-everything-and-read) Dr.
 Seuss book readings by Mrs. Brannon, Mrs. Crowe, Mr. Pope and others;
 a daily Guess-That-Book contest (where excerpts from Dr. Seuss books
will be read in the morning over the P.A. and the first person to the
library with the correct book title wins a prize), a birthday cake
(shaped like the Cat in the Hat hat) in the library to kick the week
off, and other Dr. Seuss trivia announcements.

telling if they ate their bread                         buttered-side up OR

down.

NOTES:  For D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) Dr. Seuss sessions we
will place teacher names in a hat and draw from the hat throughout
the week.  Teachers whose names are drawn will receive a CAT IN THE
HAT invitation to let them know they have "won" a D.E.A.R. Dr. Seus
session in the library on a certain day.
