Friends, this is cutting it close, but I just found out a few hours ago that our Campus Action Plan's discipline committee is extending an open invitation to the rest of staff to meet today (Wed., May 1) at 3:30 in the library to brainstorm a school-wide (K-6) discipline plan which we hope to implement next school year. Among the issues being discussed: * One set of rules, rewards, and consequences across the grades * Rewarding students who follow the rules consistently (as opposed to rewarding those who misbehave and go on some type of behavior plan) * Emphasizing positive student role models * Some type of peer mediation * Student council-type organization If you have experience with any of these plans (good or bad) or have any neat suggestions for us, please send them ASAP today. Please respond to me privately. After a few days, I will compile the responses of those who have given me permission to share their suggestions. If there is sufficient interest in this subject, I will attempt to post a hit! Thank you for your help. ###################################################################### Jeanne Wingate <jwingate@tenet.edu> Library Media Specialist Ask KidsConnect Volunteer (ALA/AASL) North Euless Elem./ H-E-B ISD WkPhone: 817.354.3505; 817.267.6485 1101 Denton Drive Modem: 817.354.3507 Euless, TX 76039-2731 ######################################################################
