Just wanted to add to this recommendation. I gave this book to one of our history teachers to read and she picked up on the mentioning of Jews being held in Oswego, NY, during World War II. You may remember this thread of information when I asked for help (and got it from you generous people!) concerning this "Safe Haven" (o.p. book title about the Oswego experience). Don't you just love history teachers who are able to use fiction to make history come alive for young people? Anyway, it's a great book and can lead to some interesting research and classes.
