TECH: Boolean searches via Web Crawler

Our search engine of choice is Web Crawler but, unless we are doing
something wrong, Boolean searches do not work with it.  It is frustrating to
get hundreds of "hits" on  unrelated pages.  Could someone offer a suggestion
of what they do?
