> Cinco de Mayo is May 5th... Mexico's Independence Day. Actually this is a common misconception even among many Hispanics. September 15 and 16 are the Mexican Independence days and May 5th is a commemoration of a Mexican victory at Puebla, Mexico against an invading French army. If anyone is interested please send e-mail to request three of my newspaper articles (saved in ascii text form on TENET) about Father Hidalgo and Mexican Independence, Benito Juarez and Cinco de Mayo, and an article about Hispanic heroes in American history.
