Hi All, I was asked by several people to post a hit on purchasing professional titles for the middle school library. I do not know how to pull together everyones messages so neatly as you all seem to do so I will give the information as a summary. The most popular was "Brainstorms and blueprints: teaching library research as a thinking process." by Stripling. Nine people responded that they used it and these were their comments: -I Love this one - I use parts of it ALL the time -wonderful book -highly recommended - excellent _essential - not practical for everyday use -I use it again and again -a must have (though dated) The second one I received comments on was "Skills for life: library information literacy for grades 6-8." I only received 4 responses and they were that it was a good, solid reference source. The third response was to "Can you find it?: 25 library scavenger hunts to sharpen your research skills." by McCutsheon. Two people responded with it was out of date and that it doesn't lend itself well to 45 min. session in a k-8 setting. I only had one person respond to say they owned "Teaching library skills in middle and high school." by Garrett and liked it. In addition I received one response from Andrea Avni who said one of her library programs in a former job was profiled in the first edition of "Excellence in library services to young adults: the nation's top programs. I had no responses to the other nine on the list. Thank you to all who did respond to my request. I know which ones to purchase now. Ann Marshall Salamanca Middle School Salamanca, NY
