Thanks to all who helped. Next year should be better! Here are a couple of suggestions I received, along with the books recommended: Top honors overall go to the Marshall Cavendish International Wildlife Encyclopedia. Everyone who recommended it loved it and used it a lot. One caveat: this set has been reprinted and is evidently not quite as good as the old one. (Marshall Cavendish (800) 821-9881) Also recommended were: Amazing Animals of the World by Grolier Funk and Wagnall's Wildlife Ency. All the World's Animals Grolier Library of Endangered Species Official WWF Guide to Endangered Species of North America The Wildlife Fact File (subscription service - pricey) Kingfisher Illustrated Encyclopedia of Animals - a one volume reference Encyclopedia of the Animal World from Bay Books Sidney Non-book suggestions: Multimedia Animals Encyclopedia on CD-ROM (Order from: Rom-Tech 1-800-321-7259 - 2000+ animals for about $50) Check with a local zoo or aquarium, they may have a docent program or other resources you can use. Gayle : the first problem you have is the person who suggested (recommended & therefore you'll get a better mark if you find or you must locate a book on ... ) the report. Did he/she talk with you? Did he/she mention "book"? One solution is to ensure that the teacher (assuming it was assigned by a teacher) physically present in the library AND find a book for each of the students, you being extremely busy with something else. Earl Sande (Brent International School Manila) Use the National Geographic Index to search for articles. ****************************************************************************** Gayle Hodur ghodur@redshift.com
