ELEM: Grade 1 Book Recommendations Needed

The grade 1 teachers in my school are planning to upgrade their social
studies unit about community helpers.  They want to expand the scope of
the unit and would like some recent (ie in the last five years)
recommended books, both fiction and non-fiction.  The subjects to be
covered include varied occupations of people, how business and government
agencies work, school employees (teachers and otherwise), in other words
what people do, where they do it, and how they do it.

Any suggestions or book lists would be helpful and, by the way, show the
teachers what a great source LM_NET is.
