A well-educated (honestly), very adult, substitute teacher remarked to me the other day that he had always thought it curious that the library decimal system was based on "12". I thought so too! And asked him why he said that. Answer: Because of its name, "duodecimal." What won't a slightly slurred accent do to our precise nomenclature?!
